Journal / Resources for explaining web standards

Some links to help explain web standards to clients.

Since I started building websites, I have gradually learned more and more about web standards, what they mean and why they should be used. I have not built a site using tables since the early days of experimentation with Frontpage and the like. I like to explain to clients why standards should be used, but I don’t always find it easy to communicate the benefits coherently, especially to non-technical clients. At the end of last week I read a post on the always-great Veerle’s blog, which talked about starting with CSS. It’s a good article, but the part that caught my eye was right at the start, where she linked to some excellent articles which effectively communicate the pros of web standards, even for the non-technical. They helped me get straight in my head exactly what I need to say to clients to (hopefully) convince them of the need for standards. I thought some other people might find them useful:
