Journal / Upgrade and redesign

Yes, I redesigned. Do you like it?

As some of you will have noticed about a month ago, I ‘re-aligned’ the main part of Nonimage.com. It had been bothering me for a while, and I was determined to update the design before I left for SXSW. As it happened I managed to flip the switch about half an hour after I arrived at my hotel in Austin. Not the smartest move I have ever made, making a new design live from a hotel room after travelling for about 18 hours. Suffice to say, the main site design turned out fine but for various reasons the blog design went a bit mental. Therefore I had to restore the old theme until I had more time to fix the problems. With the madness of SXSW, and then the madness of returning to work after 2 weeks off, that has taken a lot longer than I would have liked. So I am very pleased to announce that last night I made the new blog design live, so the whole site has continuity. I hope you like it. I’m still working out a couple of small bugs, but obviously if you find anything weird please drop me a line.

Internet Explorer 6 users: I understand that you are probably using IE6 as a result of large corporation red tape. I have endeavoured to make the site as close as possible to how it looks in other browsers. However, there are some strange looking parts, because I refuse to dumb down the experience for everyone else to make it work properly for the tiny minority. If you can, please upgrade to IE7 or better still Firefox. Not for me, but for a better experience all round for you.

While I was fixing the blog theme I also upgraded to WordPress 2.5. And boy is it good. The new admin interface, designed by Happy Cog, is a dream to use. There a quite a few other important updates, which I won’t bore you with.

I hope you like the design, and please let me know if you have any problems.
