While at SXSW I received an invite to Socialthing! I have been playing with the service since I got back to Edinburgh, and so far I love it. The concept has been around for a while (my own personal site has a similar idea, but just for my stuff) but I hadn’t come across a good site that was facilitating it until Socialthing! The idea is simple: a lifestream. A lifestream is a literally a stream showing your (online) life. This service takes the opposite approach to a personal lifestream, in that it shows you what all your contacts from the services you specify are doing. Socialthing! allows you to add your account details for main different sites (Twitter, Pownce, Facebook, Vimeo, Flickr and Livejournal currently) and track when your friends update their accounts. When you use a lot of social networks, and you have a lot of contacts, this helps immensely with (trying) to keep up with the deluge. They even have an iPhone version which is similar to the Facebook for iPhone
I have a couple of invites for Socialthing! so give me a shout if you want one.
PS. Before anyone says it, I am currently trying out FriendFeed for the other kind of lifestream ie. my own life. It is working pretty well. I’m here – http://friendfeed.com/nonimage.
(People who know me will understand this, but for those who don’t, Socialthing! has a exclamation mark in its name. I am not just abusing punctuation.)
