Perfect, originally uploaded by merlinmann.

I sit in front of a computer a lot of the time, obviously, so I have iTunes on almost all day. Today I found an article on 43 Folders, “Perfect” iTunes equalizer setting which contained the screenshot above. I thought I would give it a try, not expecting much. Unbelievably, it really does make all my music sound considerably better. I tried it with lots of different kinds of music, and I honestly couldn’t believe the difference. Try it for yourself, you won’t regret it.

    Hey Andy,
Not sure if they had this in the comments, but there was a big discussion on macosxhints a few years back, where it was suggested that negative (?) equalisation was the way to go.
See here for my settings. This means you don’t get the loudness of yours setup, but you can boost the pre-amp to compensate, without it going all “bleaaaargh” on you at top volume!
Ah – found the original thread: search the comments for “Wrong approach for audiophiles” for better words than I have!
    Cheers,
    Peter

    Hi Peter

That looks interesting. I’m going to try it out and compare, if I ever get a spare second…
