I haven’t really had much of a chance to play around with LinkedIn yet, but I had been reliably informed that can be helpful, so I signed up and filled in my details. LinkedIn is social networking for business people. It lets you connect with colleagues, former colleagues and people you have done business with, as a client or vice versa. The goals of LinkedIn seem to be 3-fold: To connect with people you know, to progress your career, and to get advice. The first is pretty straight forward. The second is all about finding connections in business. Networking, but from the comfort of the office instead of the (sometimes) awkward networking lunch etc. The third goals revolves around the fact that you can connect with people who are in the same line of work as you, or the line of work you want to know more about, and you can approach them for help and advice. I have to say I am a little skeptical about this last part, but maybe that’s just me.
